This class was instrumental in developing our sensibilities around handling complex information and creating compelling stories that convey the nature of that information to a wide range of audiences. The applications for the practice of creating these narratives are almost limitless in our world today. Understanding and creating visual models and abstractions gives us the ability to translate the complexities of the universe for people to learn from or guide people towards making more informed decisions about how they interact with the world.

Our world is constantly in a state of flux and information is one of the ways we are able to track these rapid changes. This information is, however, complex and volatile for us to be able to make sense of as we attempt to transform the world from its current state to a more desirable state. And, while we talk about this at a large scale, simple activities in our lives carry the same amount of complexity.

This class explored the representation of activities that we engage with as dynamic visual models. These models, by virtue of their interactivity and dynamicity, represent the information as abstractions of a reality that changes with changes that take place around us. By reviewing visual theory and studying numerous examples we created our own dynamic abstractions of deeply personal experiences.
