Designers are often required to explain the process, whether to describe how they arrived at solutions, or how they envision the end-user walking through a new experience. This two-week project asked students to develop their own content and explain how to achieve an end result in a step-by-step manner.

Students had to deconstruct an entire process into discrete steps, then decide whether to use text, imagery, or diagrams to represent them and ultimately craft the information into an understandable and replicable visual representation. This engaged the students to analyze the content, as well as determine how to handle non-tangible aspects of the process.

The ID Foundation program at the Institute of Design welcomes students with no design background. Students take Foundation classes in Communication, Product, and Interaction Design, together with Photography, to become versatile, well-rounded, designers.
